1. How did the imagery you use relate to your invented holiday?  Did you strive to create a catchy phrase or saying?

i made my card into a shopping bag and it relates to the holiday because people use shopping bags when they get heir stuff.

2. How did the words and font you used in your card related to holiday or imagery you used?

Well, this holiday is fun so i thought that the font should be fun. I also put cursive inside to make it formal.

3. Describe your craftsmanship in terms of using the space of the card, neatness, and finished – professional quality (no pencil). (spacing, neatness, finished)

I used the whole card and i used all of the space on the outside and minimum space on the inside. I made it professional by not showing the seans of the pipecleaners. This is so it will look a little more finished and clean.

4. Describe how you maintained consistency of image and text styles?

I organized it well and made it look like a shopping bag so it looks like a fun holiday. But i made it formal inside.

5. Which information from your original invented holiday blog did you make use of in your card?

The colors because i think it is really important to show the colors of the holiday in card to look like you have Free Shopping Day pride.

6. How did you incorporation suggestions from others, (either as comments to your blog or in class) into your final product?

Mrs. Molyneux helped me by suggesting to hide the seams of the pipe cleaners. Mallory helped me put together a cute saying.

7. Describe how your card changed from your initial 3 sketches to your final piece.

I did not use any of my ideas in the final card because i wanted to be a little more creative so i thought of a new and improved idea.

Do Anything Day!

I used palm trees because it symbolizes peacefulness and relaxation and it also represents vacationing, which is the point of the holiday. No, I only came up with “Happy Do Anything Day!” I used wavy writing to give it a careless, do-anything kind of look. I kept the word/phrase simple by just saying, “Wishing you a Happy Do Anything Day!” First, I did my whole card in pencil. Then, I used magazine clippings to fill in the spaces I planned on filling in. Then, I was left with the palm trees, and the inside of the card. Mrs. Molyneux gave me the idea of using watercolors for that part because I wanted to keep the details of the leaves on the palm trees. So I did that, and decided that it was really nice, so I did the same for the inside of the card which is two palm trees, a hammock, and a beach with sand and water. It’s similar to the outside, but it’s all watercolor on the inside. I did it carefully. For the palm trees, I went leaf by leaf to maintain consistency and for the leaves to all look similar. I went letter by letter making sure I gave it a relaxing look. I used every concept in my card. I used relaxation, serenity, freedom, and all sorts of other concepts for this card using the beach scene because that’s what a beach basically represents. I used Kelsey’s opinion of putting the hammock (originally supposed to be on the outside of the card) on the inside of the card. Then, Mrs. Molyneux gave me the idea of using watercolors because I was stumped on what I should do. The card that was my draft for the card I have now was originally like less detailed and there was less detail on the tree, and there was only one picture.

Local Foods Day Card Reflection

My holiday greeting card has a rainbow shaved ice cone in the front with pictures of local foods inside. The font I chose relates to the font on the L&L cup. At first I had ideas of Hawaiian islands, plate lunch, and the shaved ice. My first idea for the shaved ice card was to use stuffing to use for the ice shavings, color it, and paste it onto the card, but I did not know what to use for the coloring. So instead I just used markers to draw the shaved ice flavors on it. And I used red foil for the cone and the straw pasted onto the card. From the other idea of the plate lunch, inside of the final card I pasted pictures of local foods such as poke, spicy ahi, and malasadas.

1. I used an image of a cupcake for my card. On the inside I also made a collage of of food on the inside as well.

2. My words just basically said “I hope you have a happy all you can eat day!” I wrote this because I just wanted to wish people a happy all you can eat day by eating.

3. I cut my card out in the shape of a heart and then I colored it to make it look like a red velvet cupcake

4. I maintained my image style by just taking images of food. I maintained the font but writing it by hand.

5. I got the information about my holiday from my blog by basically using the information about it. Like the day, the rules, etc.

6. When we partnered up in class and Shannon gave me good advice on some things that I should change about it.

7. My first sketch was of a cupcake, my second was a regular card, and my third card was of a flower. But I decided to go with the cupcake

my holiday is no-monday day so i made my card like a calendar and i crossed out all mondays on the calendar so it is obvious that we dont have mondays. i didnt really strive to create a catchy phrase but i tried to show it by the decoration of the card.  i tried to create my fonts like hand-making fonts because usually calendars have formal fonts or cute, hand writing fonts. so i wanted to make it cuter, i used the font that looks like hand-wiring. i used felts and many different color to make it cuter. i used color pencil to make it like more hand-making. and from the blog, i used idea of color. i didnt decide when i made my holiday at first time, and i got comment that says i should use color that i hate the most, so i decide to use the color that i like the most! when i made first drafts, these were kinda hard to tell that these are related to no-monday!

my cupcake card<3

The imagery I used for my card was a giant cupcake, as on my holiday one of the special foods to be eaten are cupcakes, also my holiday is meant to be spent with your best friend, and my best friend and I really enjoy making and decorating cupcakes. On the inside of my card it says, “you are sweeter than a cupcake, happy Stephanie day” it is catchy as cupcakes are really sweet. The words and font added to my card as my holiday is fun and easygoing and so is my holiday. The overall presentation of my card is very good as I hot glued all the cotton balls, and I used tissue paper, and I used folded paper for the cupcake liner, I think my card is very nice and it looks professional, and I am really proud of it. My card is more of an imagery thing rather than a word card; the giant cupcake image is consistent and fits perfectly with my holiday. I used the idea of making cupcakes in my card. I used the suggestion of making my card being able to stand on its own and it looks a lot nicer that way. Also I suggested using cotton balls for the texture of a real cupcake. My card evolved very much from my original sketches, as at first I was not really into the project but when I had a good idea my creative juices started to flow and I really enjoyed this project overall.
